Anal Cancer Prevention

Anal cancer is a rare form of cancer, but the numbers are rising every year.

The Anal Neoplasia Clinic Research and Education Center (ANCRE) focuses on anal cancer prevention through a screening procedure called high resolution anoscopy. Most patients are referred to our clinic if they have an abnormal anal Pap test that shows abnormal cells in the anus also known as anal dysplasia. Your doctor may also refer you if you have an undiagnosed lump, bump or lesion around your anal area.

We have a diverse team of specialists including clinicians from infectious diseases, oncologists, internal medicine, women's health and colorectal surgery and we work with you on an individual level to determine the most appropriate plan of care, based on your situation.

Our clinic is one of the few institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area that perform high resolution anoscopy and anal cancer screening making it unique.
